Golfers in Orangeburg, SC braved the 90 degree heat in July to raise more than $4,000 for Coaches Curing Kids Cancer. Organized by Killian’s grandfather Paul Owen along with Gina Janvrin and Elizabeth Owen - Killian’s aunts - the tournament was held at Hillcrest Golf course. Kickin’ Kids Cancer to the End Zone!

While many families were enjoying the long lazy days of summer, the volunteers at Coaches Curing Kids’ Cancer were busy pursuing their mission of raising money to find a cure for childhood cancer. The fifth graders of Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, SC raised more than $3,000 for Coaches Curing Kids’ Cancer by staging a flag football game—played by their moms!

Elizabeth Owen, aunt of Killian Owen—the inspiration for the program—spearheaded the effort. SC Governor Mark Sanford proclaimed May 24, 2005 as Coaches Curing Kids’ Cancer day in South Carolina.
